The flowers in the sanctuary today are given by Roy and Sara Shealy in memory of Alice Lyn and in honor of Roy and Sara’s August birthdays and their upcoming 46th wedding annivsary.
Presbyterian Women Kickoff
Presbyterian Women’s preseason gathering will be held Sat., August 23 and all Grace Covenant women are invited to a tail gatethe church fellowship hall. Noon is "kickoff" time. Come dressed to support your favorite team (optional), and please bring one tailgate food to share.We will also be collecting back-to-school supplies for the students at Thornwell.The school items most needed are:large book bags (for High School grades), 2” notebooks (3-ring binder), 1 1/2” notebooks (3-ring binder), index cards (small/ruled), markers, hand sanitizer, composition books (7 ½ X 9 ¾), plastic report covers, tab dividers, scissors, mechanical pencils, and flash drives (for computer classes).
Everyone is welcome and encouraged to bring a guest. Make your reservation by communication card or by calling Gail Knowles at 967-8296.Let us know if you will need a nursery.
Upward Sports is here!!!GCPC has partnered with First Baptist of Mauldin to support the Upward Sports Experience.Upward is an international sports ministry program headquartered in Spartanburg.First Baptist has completed 2 successful years of Upward Basketball, and is now starting their very first year of soccer.Through this new partnership we have a wonderful opportunity to reach out to our community, fellowship, and serve God.If you would like to support Upward Soccer there are several opportunities.Upward soccer is open to all children from grades K4 through fifth. Upward Soccer registration is open now and ends August 29th.The cost is $65 per participant, and includes a uniform and end of season celebration and gift.Games will be played every Saturday (pending weather) and are tentatively planned for 9:30 and 10:30 a.m.The season will run from September 13 – November 1.Registration forms are located in the greeting room.For more information please contact Marty McGee at (864) 967-8383.
Please welcome Rev. Mary A. Morrison, who is leading us in worship today. Mary serves as the Associate for Vocations and Education for Foothills Presbytery. She enjoys her role in “equipping the saints for the work of ministry” within Foothills’ churches, especially working with those who lead in educational ministry and serve as church officers. Mary and her husband Mark are the parents of two daughters, Hannah and Sarah.
